The Bank Guarantee Fund is active internationally, engaging in and furthering cooperation with deposit guarantee institutions around the world, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
The Fund is a member of international organizations affiliating deposit guarantee institutions on both a European level (i.e. the European Forum of Deposit Insurers – EFDI) and a global level (i.e. the International Association of Deposit Insurers – IADI). These organizations provide a forum for international cooperation and exchange of experiences as well as for joint initiatives that contribute to the operational effectiveness of deposit guarantee institutions. On 25 October 2012, Jerzy Pruski, President of the Bank Guarantee Fund, was elected as President and Chair of the Executive Council of IADI for a three-year term.
As part of its involvement in the international arena, the Bank Guarantee Fund analyses the operations of foreign deposit guarantee schemes.
Another important element of international cooperation is maintaining bilateral relations with foreign deposit guarantee institutions. With some of these, the Fund has signed bilateral agreements in the form of Memoranda of Understanding, which stipulate the principles of mutual cooperation and exchange of information.
