The International Association of Deposit Insurers – was set up in 2002 at the Bank of International Settlements in Basel (Switzerland) as an independent organization affiliating deposit guarantee institutions from around the world.
The Bank Guarantee Fund officially became a member of the International Association of Deposit Insurers on 11 February 2008. Since 25 October 2012, Jerzy Pruski, President of the Management Board of the Bank Guarantee Fund, has been Chair of the Executive Council and President of IADI.
IADI’s mission is to contribute to the stability of financial systems by promoting international cooperation in the field of deposit insurance and developing contacts between deposit insurance institutions around the world and other interested institutions, including institutions comprising the financial safety net. IADI develops international standards that raise the effectiveness of deposit insurance systems, taking into account systemic differences between jurisdictions.
At present, 70 deposit guarantee schemes from all over the world belong to IADI.
