The principles of guaranteeing deposits are stipulated in the Act on the Bank Guarantee Fund of 14 December 1994 (consolidated text, Journal of Laws of 2009 No. 84, item 711, as amended).
The legal provisions of the Act on BFG are in full in compliance with Directive 94/19/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 1994 on deposit guarantee schemes, as amended by Directive 2009/14/EC of 11 March 2009, which introduced changes to Directive 94/19/EC in terms of the deposit guarantee limit and the payout period.
