On 1st March 2013, Jerzy Pruski, President of the Management Board of the Bank Guarantee Fund took part in a debate concerning Poland’s future adoption of the euro common currency, hosted by the Ministry of Finance. The participants also included Jacek Rostowski, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance; Marek Belka, President of the National Bank of Poland; Janusz Piechociński, Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy; the following members of the Monetary Policy Council: Andrzej Bratkowski, Jan Winiecki, Anna Zielińska-Głębocka; Jerzy Osiatyński, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski; Andrzej Raczko, Member of the Board of the National Bank of Poland.

“It’s worth remembering that previously there already existed a consensus with respect to Poland’s joining the eurozone and that, at present, the optimal course of action is not to focus primarily on the political consequences of adopting the common currency, but first and foremost on the economic ones.” – President of the Bank Guarantee Fund Jerzy Pruski, at the debate on Poland’s adoption of the euro at the Ministry of Finance.
