A special IADI Strategic Planning Workshop organized by the IADI Governance Committee – chaired by the President of BFG Jerzy Pruski – was held at the premises of the Bank Guarantee Fund in Warsaw, Poland, on 15-16 January 2015, with the participation of the majority of IADI Executive Councilmembers and Governance Committee members. An important component of IADI’s strategic planning process, the session was moderated by Mr. Thomas Hoenig, Vice Chairman of the US Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
Representatives of 21 jurisdictions took part in the two-day event, the key aim of which was to explore IADI’s strategic priorities and discuss ways to guide the future development of the Association in light of the increasingly greater role played by deposit insurers in the financial safety net architecture.
Formed in May 2002 to enhance the effectiveness of deposit insurance systems by promoting guidance and international cooperation, the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) currently represents 79 deposit insurers from 76 jurisdictions. Members of IADI conduct research and produce guidance for the benefit of those jurisdictions seeking to establish or improve a deposit insurance system. Members also share their knowledge and expertise through participation in international conferences and other forums.
The decision-making body within IADI is the Executive Council, composed of 25 representatives of member deposit insurance institutions. The President of IADI and Chair of its Executive Council is Mr. Jerzy Pruski, President of the Management Board of the Bank Guarantee Fund.
